Welcome to Heads-up,'s weekly feature which gives you an at-a-glance run-down on the games you'll be able to buy or rent this weekend. Every Tuesday we'll pick out the best of the bunch, link to our reviews and previews and keep you in the video game loop so you have enough time to pre-order for Friday's post. Time to splash the cash.

Recommendation of the Week: Civilization IV: Colonization, PC
PC Strategy games might not be the most glamorous releases, but they can be incredibly addictive. We had high hopes for Civ Colonization after playing a work in progress build a few months ago and the final game turned out to be a huge time sink that we'd have gladly played for week after week. We can't due to the stupidly packed autumn release schedule, but you can. Strategy games might not be for everyone, but Colonization is well worth a look if you fancy a change from the norm.

Also out this week
Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway, 360 and PS3: Gearbox Software's best game to date is a thoroughly entertaining WWII shooter with excellent squad control, a Band of Brothers style story and great graphics. The slow motion Action Camera aside, this is one to get while you wait for Call of Duty: World at War.

de Blob, Wii: Although de Blob is a kids' game at its core (and an extremely good one at that) it's got enough charm and fun 3D platforming gameplay to interest older gamers too. Impressive third-party Wii games don't come along all that often so when they do gamers need to embrace them. If de Blob had come out of Nintendo we'd be expecting huge sales - hopefully THQ can expect the same.

Pure, 360, PS3 and PC: Pure has the honour of being the game that convinced our previews editor Neon that racing games can be good fun - it's that good. It's also the best looking off-road racing game we've ever seen, and that includes Sony's upcoming MotorStorm Pacific Rift for PS3. Disney might not be known for releasing must-own arcade racers, but don't let the name fool you. Mickey, Donald and co are nowhere to be seen.
