According to the latest issue of Xbox World 360 magazine, Ubisoft's Splinter Cell Conviction has been pushed back for release in Holiday 2009 or as late as spring 2010.

Although it appears to cite no official sources, the magazine theorises that the delay is a result of Ubisoft Montreal rebooting development on the game.

The magazine speculates that the decision was down to already released similar games outdating it, suggesting another Ubisoft developed game, Assassin's Creed, as a prime culprit.

The last we heard the game, announced for Xbox 360 and PC, was pencilled in for a vague fiscal 2008 release, which runs April 2008 through March 2009 for Ubisoft.

Ubisoft said it couldn't comment on the game's supposed delay when contacted by VideoGamer.com this morning, but with the publisher's annual showcase, Ubidays, set for next week we shouldn't have to wait long for more info.
