Ubisoft Montreal and Ubisoft Shanghai are contributing to the development of Splinter Cell: Blacklist, Ubisoft has revealed.

The two studios will work underneath Ubisoft Toronto, the publisher’s newest studio headed up by Assassin’s Creed producer Jade Raymond, who is leading development on Blacklist.

According to Ubisoft, Montreal, who created the original Splinter Cell, is “collaborating closely with Toronto on the game’s multiplayer modes”.

More details on those are said to be “coming soon”.

Meanwhile, Ubisoft Shanghai, who led development on Splinter Cell: Double Agent, “is responsible for the game’s co-op mode”.

Splinter Cell: Blacklist was officially unveiled by Ubisoft last night. The game sees a return of Sam Fisher on the track of a terrorist organisation called ‘Blacklist’. The game is set in part on the Iran/Iraq border.

Splinter Cell: Blacklist launches on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC in early 2013.
