A look ahead to Friday's new releases.
Welcome to Heads-up, VideoGamer.com's weekly feature which gives you an at-a-glance run-down on the games you'll be able to buy or rent this weekend. Every Tuesday we'll pick out the best of the bunch, link to our reviews and previews and keep you in the video game loop so you have enough time to pre-order for Friday's post. Time to splash the cash.
Recommendation of the Week: Football Manager Live - PC
If, like us, you can't get enough of Football Manager, FM Live will most definitely be for you. As you can see in our review we think Sports Interactive's MMO management sim is brilliant, and has kept us away from our busy social lives for the past month. If you want to add an element of realism to the Football Manager experience, there's nothing better than dealing with a world full of real managers, each trying to broker deals that bring the best players to their clubs. Only time will tell if the game turns into a virtual representation of the real thing (bitter rivalries and dominant forces), but even if it doesn't, we've sunk in excess of 150 hours into the game, which makes it more than good enough to be our recommended game of the week.
Worth a look: Skate 2 - Xbox 360 and PS3
As is often the case, we can't give a definitive verdict on this until Friday, but a lot of what was said about the original game holds true here. If you're not into skating or willing to invest time into learning how to virtually skate, look elsewhere. This isn't Tony Hawk with a new name. This is to Tony Hawk as Flight Simulator is to Ace Combat. While they're essentially in the same genre, when you play them they're worlds apart.
