this games gonna be sick. Ive been waiting for thrasher : skate and destroy 2 because I love the realism and the fact that the tricks are hard to do. Gives you a real sense of achievement when you stick tricks perfectly in that game. hopefully skate will be like that.

I totally agree with Jay, Filth, Mic and Matty..... Im really tired of this totally unrealistic and frankly boring gameplay that TH series imposes on us. Game after game provides fresh hope that is defecated back. I was appalled by the quality of THAW, it was rushed, buggy and didnt come close to the 'no loading screens' it promised.....EA are making a competent attempt to produce a realistic and enjoyable game, go realism and GO EA!!!!

I hope you can create a character on this game. It doesn't look bad.

guy who skates
the last good tony hawk game was underground. every one since then sucked. the tony hawk games have gone to hell. its about time another really good skateboarding game was made.

The greatest icon in skateboarding may be tony hawk to non skateboarders. But ask any skateboarder who their favorite pro is, and it probably wont be hawk, hawk skates vert. most skateboarders either despise it or dont like it. though i respect the challenge of getting air and the 900, and dropping in on the vert ramp, i think that other skaters deserve the fame and life more than tony hawk.

Nasty
this games gonna be so sick. It relies on physics instead of already made animations, and all the board control is with the analog stick. Left stick co ntrols your body and the right stick controls your feet. You have to pop the board and flip it different ways for different tricks. There's supposed to be a huge sense of accomplishment when you land tricks because they're all based on how high you actually choose to pop and when you choose to flick. forget tony hawk, skate is going to OWN.

Ever since THUG2 came out I always wanted to play a realistic skateboarding game (come on, who didn't?) Then, I saw the episode of Rob & Big when he went to the Black Box studio doing motion capture. And the game just blew me away. My point is, this game is going to be f*cking AWESOME

Ok WTF dozzer. It is realistic, OK The towns are crammed full of perfect skateboarding spots, but it would suck otherwise. Lol... ive preordered this game for PS3... the one thing i hope is A) Online doesnt lag and B) you and friends can just skate around the whole city.

I've just played both the "skate." demo and "Tony Hawks Proving Grounds" demo, one after the other. I can safely say, with no hesitation, that "skate." is by far the more enjoyable, most impressive, less embarassing and most realistic take on the skateboarding world.

I've played several of the Tony Hawk series, largely the older games, which were a lot of fun, but to me the series has become unrecognisable. Proving Grounds seems incredibly cartoon like and tacky, and the controls feel very unresponsive and static especially compared to Skate.

Skate's physics are outstanding and the controls are beautifully simple, yet difficult enough to have you spending hours mastering tricks. The game doesn't feel like a huge cartoon and it feels like you're actually skating in a real-world setting.

All in all, I hope this series continues with Skate 2 and 3 (with perhaps different cities, more tricks, improved physics, etc), but doesn't go down the hyper-unrealistic route of the TH series.

Realistic and down-to-earth skating is the future for skateboard games.

EA CREATER:1
Hello everyone, I work for EA. It seems you are trying to figure out which one of these games are superior to one another. Well let me explain. Tony Hawk for one uses buttons to do tricks. Sooner or Later that my friends will become boring and un-realistic to gamers also to do 100 combo tricks is pointless because for the one reason that Tony Hawk games make it extremely easy. We have sighned and registed 128 skateboarders on our game. Tony Hawk does not even come close to that mark. Especially in 'Skate' we have put in a unique way of doing tricks and getting around the city. You are now able to do hard tricks with the 'Analog Stick'.This is much more realistic and enjoyable because to do tricks it now takes what I like to call skill!
