Welcome to Heads-up, our weekly feature which gives you an at-a-glance run-down on the games you'll be able to buy or rent this weekend. Every Monday we'll pick out the best of the bunch, link to our reviews and previews and keep you in the video game loop so you have enough time to pre-order for Friday's post. Time to splosh the dosh.

Worth a Look

There's not a massive selection of big games out this week, but the most interesting of the lot is clearly Shadows of the Damned - a weird and slightly twisted horror action title from Grasshopper Manufacture and EA. The game combines the creative talents of Goichi Suda (No More Heroes) and Shinji Mikami (Vanquish, Resident Evil 4), and while it's not without its frustrations, it's certainly a colourful departure from the usual shooter fare. It's funny too, provided you have a fairly sick sense of humour.

Also of note is Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition, a retail version of the downloadable update that released two weeks ago. To be blunt, you probably already know about this if you fall into the target audience. If you're looking for new characters to brawl with, check it out; be warned, however, that some fans have been moaning about the new roster balance. Supposedly the new characters are somewhat overpowered. So it goes.

F.E.A.R 3 is something of an unknown quantity, at the time of writing. Martin is sceptical, but Tom Orry is remaining positive as he was a big fan of the previous games.

Shadows Of The Damned - PC, PS3, Xbox 360
Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition - PC, PS3, Xbox 360
F.3.A.R - PC, PS3, Xbox 360

And the rest…

New stuff to check out

Mafia II was good, and yes I got all the Playboy Magazines without a guide... Too much details there.

Mafia II plot wise was very like Goodfella's and even God-Father to a certain degree. Director's Cut presuming it has all DLC and of course the uncut bits. I think the game is worth ago for people who haven't got round to getting it. I hear the DLC is very good, and holds it own to the main plot as well.

It's one of the few games where no closure feels good, i.e. it leaves it open for an obvious sequel or it reminds you of the harsh reality of the world you've just visited.

While a good game, do you not think that the main narrative pay off is the last scene?

Please let Transformers: Dark of the Moon be as good as the last Transformers game.

If you've yet to play Mafia II then you're seriously missing out as it's a great example of how videogames can deliver a good storyline whilst keeping you immersed in its world.
