The Saboteur Features for Xbox 360

Tom Orry, Editor - Bayonetta, Xbox 360 and PS3
Bayonetta has always looked like being an excellent game, but for some reason I've never felt excited. It's strange really. I love Ninja Gaiden and Devil May Cry, God of War and Ninja Blade, yet Bayonetta hadn't really clicked with me until this week. Now, after only an hour or so in the company of the long-haired witch, I'm starting to see what the fuss is about. I'm not completely sold on Bayonetta as a character, but there's no denying that the combat is extremely accomplished. It's not a game for those faint of heart, though, with more on-screen chaos than my eyes are able to send to my brain. Expect a review early in 2010.

Wesley Yin-Poole, Deputy Editor – The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks, Nintendo DS
I read with interest the comments on my review of Nintendo's latest Zelda adventure, Spirit Tracks. Some questioned why I criticised it for having "some tired features" at a time when Uncharted 2, Modern Warfare 2 and Forza 3, games I presume these commenters believe are more of the same, are showered in praise. Allow me to explain. While Spirit Tracks is only the second Zelda game on the DS, its core mechanics and structure are based on those of a two decade-old series. It might have a different art style, a different perspective and stylus controls, but Spirit Tracks rehashes gameplay we've experienced a dozen times before. We've been playing Uncharted and Modern Warfare for just two years. Zelda games have been fundamentally the same since Ocarina of Time was released 11 years ago. The next Zelda game, to be unveiled at E3 2010, is so exciting because it might just be the one to revolutionise the series. Aonuma has hinted at flight as a method of travel, suggested Wii MotionPlus-fuelled sword fighting, and quoted as saying "we are contemplating altering the way the game progresses in comparison with all the past Legend of Zelda franchises". Perhaps, in a decade's time, if Uncharted and Modern Warfare are still fundamentally the same, I'll criticise those as well.

Heavy Rain screenshot

Neon Kelly, Previews Editor - Heavy Rain, PS3
It's usually Wez who writes the kind of VG Plays where he says, "I've been playing X, but I can't tell you about till next week due an embargo." Personally, I think these kind of articles are a bit of a prick-tease, but he reckons that you lot like them - and James says that it'll be good publicity for the articles we have going up next week. So, here goes: I've been playing Heavy Rain, but I can't tell you about it until next week due to an embargo. I've tried to keep my forthcoming preview as spoiler-free as I can, because personally I hate it when I read an article and it unexpectedly reveals a big plot twist. For those of you who do like spoilers, I'll also be doing a feature that will discuss some of the things we've seen in the game thus far. And, uh, that's it. End of Plug. Terms and Conditions apply. Your home may be at risk if you do not keep up payments.

James Orry, News Editor - Heavy Rain, PS3
So, strictly speaking I didn't play Heavy Rain, but I did sit and watch Neon play for a good hour. Our hands are tied until Monday evening before we can talk about the game in any specifics, but I will say that one hour - just watching - has turned a huge sceptic into a believer that Heavy Rain won't only deliver on what its creator David Cage has promised, but will be an early game of the year contender to boot. Who'd of thought this possible from a series of quick time events.
