Red Dead Redemption sales near 7 million

Proof Take-Two's creative teams can produce 'multiple mega-hit franchises,' says Feder.

Take-Two has revealed that Rockstar Games' Red Dead Redemption has sold more than 6.9 million units worldwide to retailers since its launch on May 18, 2010.

The game's success has significantly contributed to the publisher's better than expected results for its fiscal 2010 third quarter (ended July 31, 2010), with net revenue up to $354.1 million from the $94.9 million reported for the same quarter of fiscal 2009.

Ben Feder, CEO of Take-Two commented: "Red Dead Redemption has shown that our creative teams can produce multiple mega-hit franchises."

Red Dead Redemption is out now for Xbox 360 and PS3.
