Ubisoft has responded to a widespread fan backlash to the Rayman Legends delay on Wii U by promising a second exclusive demo for the platform.

Posting on the Ubisoft Facebook page, the publisher wrote: "Thanks for all your feedback regarding Rayman Legends in all of its forms. We have heard you and we will continue to listen. We understand your frustration and that you want to get your hands on the game.

"We are working with the development team to provide you with a new, exclusive demo for the Wii U soon. Stay tuned for more."

Last week Ubisoft not only delayed the game until September, but also announced the one-time Wii U exclusive would now be releasing on Xbox 360 and PS3 too.

Especially releasing after E3 is a bad idea for them. Wii U owners are angry right now, but at E3 Nintendo will show a lot more footage of the cool stuff we saw in the Nintendo direct. Plus maybe 1-4 new games to boot. Plus a bunch of Nextbox and PS4 title being announced will take the limelight off. GTA will get away with since it's GTA. No one will want to hear about Legends, a game that has had multiple delays and will have been at two E3's at this point.

I've heard online some people try to justify the delay as a way to decrease marketing costs of a staggered. Which makes sence, until you realise that, there's nothing out (not just on Wii U but barely anything on 360 and PS3 as well), and Nintendo needs the games. Ubisoft could of just asked for some funding from Nintendo and they would of gladly marketed the entire game for them probably. Now... not so much.

I doubt Ubisoft are lining their pockets with this, though. All they are going to do is cannibalise potential Wii U launch window sales. Right now, Wii U has so little out it is scarily unhealthy looking. Rayman would clean up, having an audience almost completely to itself. But, come the end of the year, when there is much more in the way of new and upcoming releases to fight against, I can see Rayman losing out. On all formats, but especially on Wii U. Release it now, and clean up.

I'm sure its a Ubisoft decision not the developer itself. I heard that the main guy of the developer was pretty cheesed off that it happened. Again, Ubisoft lines the money in their pockets. If they click their fingers, they will jump.

I think you can be rest assured it will lose them a lot of sales. It's fairly mad to not release the wii u version now when not a great deal is out an owners are aching for new games. Instead simultaneous release when the next consoles might come out, when GTA is out. I suspect it might have come down to some stupid decision like actually making all the games in one go, production-wise, rather than any thoughts about best sales ideas.

Now that I've thought about it, I find it quite funny how there was a much larger uproar from Wii u owners about this delay, then there were from Ps3/360 owners about the game being exclusive last year. Make you wonder how much more this game would make on the other platforms to begin with. And how much that offsets the amount of money they've lost from angry Wii U owners. It makes it even worse for Ubisoft since everyone knows this game was finished, because a developer had been posting updates on progress for some time.

Does this exclusive demo make it up to Wii U onwers? No way. Will some people feel insulted that Ubisoft would think this could fix this the backlash easily? Not me personally, I think a few people will. Will they lose sales? They'll probably gain sales from the other platform ports, but they most likely would of made more money, if the Wii U version was not delayed and the ports had come later. Have they lost my sale? Maybe. Depending on how the Wii U line up turns out for the second half of the year I probably would of picked it up at some point anyway. If it had come out on time, I would of gotten this for member of the month.

One thing is for sure, it shows that the miiverse community can make itself be heard. There were some rather venomous comments in the Uplay topic, so which I would of thing would be censored by Nintendo, but conveniently left there. Hmmm...
