The Rage franchise isn't dead, but isn't coming back anytime soon either, id Software co-founder Tim Willits has revealed.

"I'm proud of what we did, I'm proud of the universe that we built. The franchise is not dead," Willits said, speaking at QuakeCon last week. "We're not doing anything immediately with it, but when I designed the universe, I designed it in such a way that it would be easy to step back into. I'm still proud that we did something that was different – it wasn't like the games that we've done in the past."

Rage was released in October 2011 to generally positive reviews, but failed to establish itself as a major new IP.

The team at id is now devoting all its time to Doom 4.

It took some tweaking for me to run it, but once I worked the kinks out it ran like a charm

Nah, PC version was a straight port, with NO SLI support. I got it for 10 dollars and I still feel ripped off.

I really enjoyed RAGE. Especially the driving haha.

Excellent shooting as well. It lacked good level design (revisiting the same areas again and again) and had an atrocious ending but other than that it was great in my opinion.

I would so be down for Rage 2.

Man alive that was a tedious game. Everything about it singularly failed to grab me - story, enemies, world, mechanics... the guns were OK, but it ended there.
