The Scorchers, a piece of brand-new DLC for id's RAGE, is now available for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, Bethesda has announced.

European PS3 gamers will have to wait until tomorrow.

The 400 MS Points / $4.99 DLC features a new adventure spanning six new areas, which will see you fighting alongside new allies to defend the Hager Settlement from a maniacal bandit clan known as The Scorchers.

Players will also participate in a new season of Mutant Bash TV, encounter new mini-games, and take control of the brutal Nailgun.

The DLC also introduced the new Ultra-Nightmare difficulty mode, plus an Extended Play option which makes it possible to continue playing past the original ending to collect items and achievements.

Key Features:

New Enemies and Weapons
Fight the Scorcher clan, the Wasteland's most psychotic bandits, and conquer overwhelming odds with help from a brutal Nailgun featuring three distinct ammunition types.

Rediscover the Wasteland
Explore six all-new environments, compete in a new season of Mutant Bash TV and play all-new mini-games. There's more to the world of RAGE than ever before!

Ultra-Nightmare Mode
Take your rage to another level with the new Ultra-Nightmare Mode, designed especially for hardcore players looking for the ultimate challenge.

Extended Play Mode & Combat Scenario Selection
Continue exploring the Wasteland long after the final fight with the 'Extended Play' option, and relive your favourite missions any time you want with the all-new 'Combat Scenario Selection' menu.

This is pretty much the way expansions used to work, isn't it? Not built alongside the game, but added on to keep it going long after it stopped selling. Well done, Id, for caring enough about the game to do this. I'll bet we aren't still getting new DLC for Black Ops II in early 2014.

I suppose so many people have either got a free copy from GAME by now or got it cheap that it's worth releasing new content.

I never knew Rage's original ending was absolute. Kinda glad I know that in advance now.
