Quake 4 is being given a somewhat bizarre re-release on Xbox 360 and PC, Bethesda has announced.

The Raven and id Software collaboration launched back in 2005 on PC and then a bit later as part of the Xbox 360 launch line-up. The Xbox 360 version suffered from some pretty terrible frame rate issues, which are unlikely to be fixed this time around.

Bethesda has put a June 19 date and $19.99 price tag on the game in North America, but hasn't offered specifics of its re-launch in the UK and the rest of Europe.

It's not clear if the Xbox 360 re-release will include the version of Quake 2 which was part of the original release - some would argue that was the best reason for picking up the game.

Because this involves no effort whatsoever, just repackage and release again.

That one already exists. No idea why they would choose to redo Quake 4, whereas a HD Quake 1&2 would be instabuy for many.

I thought Quake 4 for xbox 360 was cool both gameplay and storytelling. There also wasn't a single problem with frame rates. Yes, I would even buy the rerelease version which will no doubt be AWSOME as well. Thank you Bethesda.

I got Quake 4 free with my 360 and it didn't come with a copy of Quake 2.
