Microsoft expands Classics collection

Halo 3, Mass Effect and PGR4 join the budget range.

Microsoft has announced the expansion of its Classics collection in Europe, with Halo 3, Mass Effect and Project Gotham Racing 4 to be available at the reduced price of £19.99 as of March 20.

"We are delighted to add three of our finest titles to the Classics range, adding to the exceptional entertainment offering available on the Xbox 360 at outstanding prices," said David Gosen Vice President of Marketing, Xbox Europe. "As we see more and more families looking to save money by staying in, Xbox 360 continues to offer high-quality home entertainment at fantastic value and consumers are clearly recognising this as we sail past 8 million console sales in Europe.”

The main reason seems to be to force those game stores who refuse to do price comparisons or price cuts to sell these games at a new RRP.

A good idea, but like Xboxlive says, the cases look terrible (as do the PS3 equivalents).

Picked up Halo 3 for £14.99 and PGR4 for £13.17 at Amazon last week. Still think the Classics range is great though in terms of developers getting a little extra recognition for their work.

Bought PG4 for £17.99 the day it came out. Most of the games listed are available at this price and have been way before the announcement. Anyhow cheap is good.
