Sumo to bring the SEGA racer to both next-gen consoles in early 2009.

SEGA has announced that racing fans are in for a treat in early 2009. Sumo Digital is working on OutRun Online Arcade for PSN and Xbox LIVE Arcade. Gamers will be able to rediscover the 15 stages of the original arcade game, from the streets of San Francisco to the beaches of California.

Online Arcade will support six-player online racing, OutRun, Heart and Time Attack game modes. SEGA has also confirmed that the game will support Xbox 360 Achievements, PS3 Trophies, leaderboards and voice over IP. As you can see from the newly released screens, the game closely resembles Outrun 2006: Coast 2 Coast, released on PS2 and Xbox in 2006.
