Team Ninja is creating Ninja Gaiden 3 so that it can be enjoyed by more than the series’ hardcore fans, but this doesn’t mean the difficulty level has been nerfed, Yosuke Hayashi, producer at Team Ninja, has told Edge magazine.

“Ninja Gaiden fans want a challenge, and we want to offer them a game that is challenging,” said Hayashi. “But we also don’t want that to be a barrier to people who haven’t played these games, who haven’t played this franchise.”

He added: “It’s not about the game being too easy or too hard, it just seems like [new players] have a different skillset. So we want to offer a game to both kinds of players. We’re not trying to nerf the game.”

Hayashi concluded by reassuring fans that they will still get the experience they want.

“We are definitely going to have a hard game for the people who want it,” he said.

Ninja Gaiden 3 will be released in 2012 for Xbox 360 and PS3.
