Welcome to Heads-up,'s weekly feature which gives you an at-a-glance run-down on the games you'll be able to buy or rent this weekend. Every Tuesday we'll pick out the best of the bunch, link to our reviews and previews and keep you in the video game loop so you have enough time to pre-order for Friday's post. Time to splash the cash.

While the autumn/winter release schedule isn't quite as packed as it could have been, there are still plenty of high profile releases due over the coming weeks and this week sees one of the biggest. Halo 3: ODST scored an impressive 9/10 in our review and is an absolute must buy for Halo fans. While the campaign is short, the new Firefight multiplayer mode is superb, and the entire Halo 3 multiplayer component is included on a second disc if you haven't already bought the multimillion selling FPS. Taking a completely different approach is Nintendo's sequel to the hugely popular DS game Professor Layton - no guns here, just good old fashioned puzzles. If the first game is anything to go by Pandora's Box will be flying off store shelves for months.

Also worth a look

Activision Blizzard's Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 isn't going to break any new ground, but we've been pretty impressed by what we've seen of the game during its development. It's just a good, solid, fun super hero game. Also out this week is another game hoping to crack the adult Wii market. Dead Space wowed gamers when it arrived on next-gen consoles and PC, and EA will be hoping its on-rails shooter spin-off will have similar success. It certainly looks the part from what we've played, featuring some of the most impressive visuals to grace the Nintendo console.
