Wii U co-op mode lets your partner play with traffic, alter time of day and provide navigation assistance.
EA has announced that a Wii U version of Need For Speed: Most Wanted will release in Europe on March 21, and detailed a new 'Co-Driver' co-op mode exclusive to the platform.
Co-Driver lets two players team up locally to become Fairhaven's Most Wanted, with one player using a Wii Remote or Wii U Pro Controller to drive, and another providing "control and navigation assistance" via the Wii U GamePad.
The player using the GamePad will have access to a real-time map, allowing them to help the driver plot a route, distract cops and activate performance boosters on the car. Interestingly, EA says that the GamePad player will also be able to alter the amount of traffic on the road and switch from day to night.
For people playing on their own, however, the GamePad will let players quickly change their car's mods, switch into other cars, track their statistics and discover collectibles all via the touch screen.
The game is playable entirely on the GamePad, too, if your girlfriend ever wants to watch the TV.
And finally, the Wii U version also contains the Ultimate Speed Pack, the first piece of DLC released for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions last month.
Besides the new additions, the Wii U version's functionality appears to be largely identical to the other console versions, including access to Autolog 2 and the ability to earn Speed Points through CloudCompete.
Need For Speed: Most Wanted left us impressed when it first released last November, earning itself a place on our Game of the Year Shortlist.
