Ed Boon tells VideoGamer.com he is working with ESRB to "see what we can get away with" with T-rating.

Ed Boon, creator of the Mortal Kombat series, has revealed that he is working with the ESRB to see how violent he can make upcoming beat-em-up Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe.
Some fans of the series have already expressed their disappointment at the lack of a mature rating for the game, and the prospect of no fatalities or gore, trademarks of the Mortal Kombat series.
However, speaking to VideoGamer.com at the game's official unveiling at Las Vegas this week, Boon said that the game may well end up having blood and fatalities, although they will more than likely be described as something else.
He said: "We're constantly working with the ESRB to find out what a T-rated game can do. There have been T-rated games with blood in them. Obviously not gallons of it like we've done in the previous MK games. So there's obviously a line that can't be crossed. We're basically looking for that line to see what we can get away with. We don't want to lose the spirit of what MK is, very brutal, very intense, there's a certain amount of violence that's associated with MK. It's MK vs. DC, it's not just a DC game, so we want the spirit of MK and the spirit of DC. We don't know exactly what the answer is now because the game isn't finished. But that's something we're constantly working on."
When asked if fatalities would make it into the game, Boon replied: "Yes. Whether we call them fatalities or not I guess is the question. Maybe they're just called finishing moves or something. But in terms of some big event you can do at the end of a fight to finish your opponent, I think that that's a high probability."

Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe is due out for Xbox 360 and PS3 in Fall 2008.

I don't know what to expect from this game, guess I'll have to wait a while and get more info and game play footage, MK isn't Mortal Kombat without gore, blood and fatalities, then again SuperMan vs Sub Zero is a weird match up as you pretty much know who'd really win, pitty the Capcom deal didn't ink over so we could've seen Mk vs SF. Ryu vs Sub Zero seems to make more sense than DC vs MK.

I will not buy a kiddy version of MK. The idea of combining the two worlds is assume, but this is only because the MK universe is a violent one. If you take the violent component out, then what do you have?

DC Comics is Violent just had the heroes. I mean look at Batman, Robin II was beat to death with a crowbar by Joker, Batgirl shot and paralyzed by the Joker, Robin III's dad was killed, Azrael shot and killed, Black Mask tortured and killed Spoiler, Bain broke Batman's back, Orpheus got his throat slit by Black Mask, and Deasthstroke drugged the Cassandra Cain Batgirl into leading the League of Assassins after she killed her father. So don't say DC Comics makes it kiddy.

There will be blood and finishers, so Ed Boon. Imo this game with the new engine will be a great Beat'em Up.
