Max Payne 3 News

For:Xbox 360  Also On: PS3PC Release Date: 15 May 2012

Multiplayer bonuses for customers at GAME, Tesco and Play.

Rockstar Games has revealed the pre-order bonuses for Max Payne 3.

The full listing on Rockstar's site has details on retailers in Australia, Spain, France and Germany; here, we'll just focus on UK outlets:

  • GAME customers get the Cemetery multiplayer map, which we first heard about late last year.
  • Pre-orders from Tesco Get the Silent Killer multiplayer loadout pack. This kits you out with a Light Anti-Tank Weapon (LAW), a listening device that helps you to hear approaching enemies, and the Slippery Character Burst – which appears to be some kind of evasive perk. Can't say that an anti-tank rocket launcher sounds particularly "silent", but as Tesco says, every little helps.
  • Finally, if you pre-order from Play you'll get a code for the game's first paid-for DLC. We don't know what that is yet.

Max Payne 3 will be released on March 16 on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.

VideoGamer.com Analysis

The first paid DLC will probably be owned by more people in the long run, so from a multiplayer perspective it might make sense to plump for the Play deal. Then again, we don't know what it is yet: it could be a pack that replaces all the guns with sticks of French bread, and then no-one would buy it.

Actually, I've changed my mind – that sounds fun!

If anything, want the first DLC because I don't care about multiplayer stuff, but pre-ordering from Play is practically asking to get the game 2 days late. I severely doubt that I will be pre-ordering this at all.
