Max Payne 3 News for Xbox 360

Max Payne 3 confirmed for winter 2009

Promises to move the story of Max in a new direction.

Rockstar Games today announced that Max Payne 3 is currently in development and scheduled for release on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC in winter 2009. The game is in development at Rockstar Vancouver.

"We're starting a new chapter of Max's life with this game," said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. "This is Max as we've never seen him before, a few years older, more world-weary and cynical than ever. We experience the downward spiral of his life after the events of Max Payne 2 and witness his last chance for salvation."

Since leaving the NYPD and New York behind, Max has gone from bad to worse. He now finds himself trapped in a city full of violence and bloodshed in a search of the truth and a way out.

Max Payne 3 will be available in winter 2009 for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

Ya, I can understand your cynicism about this one. I'm hoping that since there have been 2 games which really outline exactly who Max is and the life he lives, Rockstar will hopefully do their research and apply the sequel that is necessary to the story.

I guess, but I think it makes sense as to why he looks like that now. I mean take the first 2 games and really apply the events of all that to his life. He's lost a family and his romantic lover in the 2nd game. People just seem to die around him because the life that fate dealt him isn't the most fortunate. Imagine the psychological harm this could take on a person, to believe you are one of the people in the world where things just aren't meant to work out for you. Everyone would get affected differently. I think it's a bold move for the game developers but a logical one. I think he kind of looks like John McLane

Agreed PB but it is a scary thought that an IP as great as Max Payne could be messed up or changed.

"Promises to move the story of Max in a new direction." Says it all to me. This will not be Max payne of old this will be a whole new experience may as well be a new IP. Not saying it won't be a good game but it certainly won't be Max Payne of old. Remedy are still owners of the Max Payne engine so can't see them using this either.

rockstar hav developed some fantastic games like gta 4 lost and damned etc. i hav faith in them. I think this is one of the biggest games of he year ADDS THIS TO THE LIST. Probably mmy most anticipated. HUGGGGGGGGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
Mp 1 and 2 are one of best games ever i still play them

Max Payne 1 and 2 were about much more than quality. There are sinister undertones that I'm not convinced Rockstar Vancouver will be able, or even try, to convey. Max Payne is a delicate formula of misguided relentless retaliation, over stylised (arguably to support the theory that he imagined the entire thing) action and the graphic novel representation of self-inflected pain and torment.

When Rockstar pitch that to marketing, I can almost guarantee you that they will have said "cant you just do bullet time and stuff?".

That's why I'm apprehensive about anyone but Remedy doing this.
