Welcome to Heads-up, our weekly feature which gives you an at-a-glance run-down on the games you'll be able to buy or rent this weekend. Every Tuesday we'll pick out the best of the bunch, link to our reviews and previews and keep you in the video game loop so you have enough time to pre-order for Friday's post. Time to splash the cash.

Recommended: Dante's Inferno - Xbox 360 and PS3

OK, it feels a lot like God of War and got a few people up in arms because it turned a poem into a hack 'n' slash video game, but Dante's Inferno is good fun. It's not for the faint hearted, with some pretty nasty violence and plenty of nudity, but what do you expect from a game set inside the circles of Hell? There's no doubt that EA wants to make this into a franchise, so hopefully enough of you will pick up Dante's debut to ensure we get more from our good friends, 'woman who fires a tentacle from between her thighs' and 'fat beast that attacks using vomit and excrement'. We did say it's not for the faint hearted.

Recommended: Star Trek Online - PC

This one is a bit tricky, given we haven't played the game outside of its beta, but we're pretty confident Star Trek Online will offer some essential online gameplay for Trekkies the world over. Who doesn't want to set their phasers to stun, utter the words "engage," and "make it so", and set up their gaming room to look like the deck of the Enterprise?

Worth a look

If the two games featured above don't take your fancy, there's plenty to look at elsewhere. RPG fans can choose from mega hardcore strategy RPG Disgaea 2 on the PSP, while Wii owners can opt for less hardcore Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers. STALKER: Call of Pripyat will deliver some exclusive PC FPS action, complete with horrific mutants, while Mx vs ATV Reflex is the latest in the off-road racing series. If all of that is a bit too intense, perhaps diving simulation Endless Ocean 2 will be more your pace.

Mx vs ATV Reflex - Xbox 360, PS3, DS and PSP
Endless Ocean 2 - Wii
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers - Wii
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat - PC
Disgaea 2: Dark Hero Days - PSP

And the rest

AstroBoy - Wii, DS, PSP, PS2
Chicken Blaster - DS
The Princess and the Frog - Wii and DS
Sims 3 Design & High-Tech Stuff - PC
JIGAPIX Love is - DS

New stuff to check out
