The BBFC classification for Mass Effect has revealed that the game has been awarded a 12 rating for "moderate violence and one sex scene".
Violence is pretty common these days, but a sex scene is sure to cause a bit of a stir. According to the extended classification over on the BBFC website the scene in question is "brief and undetailed" but does include "breast nudity in one version of the scene".
The classification goes on to state: "If playing as a male character the scene can take place between him and a human woman or a humanoid female alien. If playing as a female character the scene can take place between her and a male human or a female humanoid alien."
So that's quite a variety and certainly something for most sexual persuasions. Mass Effect is scheduled for release across Europe on November 23.

Granted they were big on the old men/young boys while I prefer straight sex with the camera focused on the man, but still. Men for the win.

And just because you find something "gross" doesn't mean it shouldn't be in there. All it does is gives someone else a chance to enjoy the game in the same way you do... there is nothing forcing you to cultivate that man/man relationship in the game (except perhaps if you have latent homosexual tendancies) in which case the game has still forced you to do nothing, it is your own choosing.
It is good to see that some companies are giving players the option, especially with the relationship aspects of games, the chance to explore more possibilities. Knowing now that there were relationships in Jade Empire, I think I'll go back and play them through, several times, and see how the game changes each time.

Based on a true story btw.
Also, man on man stuff always has a hard time getting passed through because it ups the ratings. Also, it's gross.

"It sounds a bit ridiculous to argue that sex JUST leads to destruction and sorrow, though you can certainly make a good case for it."
that's a joke right?
