A movie adaptation of Capcom's Lost Planet was announced back at E3 2008, but information on the project has been scarce, although it has been confirmed that David Hayter (the voice of Solid Snake) is working on the screenplay.

However, some indication of what won't be appearing in the game has now been revealed. Speaking to G4 at gamescom last month, Lost Planet 2 producer Jun Takeuchi revealed that fans of the sci-fi action series hoping the movie will follow the same path as the games are out of luck.

"[There] probably [won't be] so much of a reference to this particular title [Lost Planet 2]," explained Takeuchi. "However, the only thing I know is those people working on the project that they love the world of Lost Planet. So, we know that they’re going to utilize that world, but as far as the story line goes, the movie is completely different from the game."

Takeuchi also told G4 that Keiji Inafune, who oversees much of what's going on at Capcom, is collaborating with the people creating the movie.

Earlier this year it was revealed that the movie could cost up to $200 million to produce.

As long as it's a good film I don't care. David Hayter (X-Men and Watchmen) is a good writer so I trust him
