Sequel hints at a multi-platform release.
Hello Games has today announced Joe Danger: The Movie, a sequel of sorts to last year's PSN platformer, Joe Danger.
Unlike the first game, Joe Danger: The Movie isn't afraid to take Joe away from his beloved bike.
"What can I tell you about the game? The working title is 'Joe Danger: The Movie', and it's kind of a sequel to Joe Danger, but it’s also something entirely new," Hello Games boss Sean Murray said to VideoGamer.com.
"I guess I would say that the entire gameplay experience of Joe Danger on PSN would be just one short scene in this new game.
"If you liked Joe Danger, then I think it’s going to rock your world. Even if you didn’t like it though, this is different enough that we might just win you over. That’s the idea, but like I say who knows, no one but us has seen it yet."
Since the first game, Joe has found considerable success, and is about to begin his career as a Hollywood stuntman.
"It all came about when we were helping Ryan (our resident film nut) move house," said Murray. "He had this huge collection of VHS, everything from his childhood, Robocop, Neverending Story, Conan, Short Circuit… everything. He was throwing them out, it was tragic, so we stayed up all night just watching them one after another. In between quoting every line we just started coming up with these game ideas."
While Murray wasn't prepared to divulge the specificities of the game, he did allude to a multi-format release.
"We’re not able to talk about platforms yet. If I’m honest, when we’re making something we don’t really think about that. We just want the most people possible to play our games."
He also revealed that the game would make an appearance in Cologne next week.
"The entire team is actually packing up a van tonight, and then we’re driving to Germany, to Gamescom to show it off for the first time. Literally no one has seen so much as a logo yet, but apparently we’re about to show a quarter of a million Germans. What could possibly go wrong?"
