I Am Alive, Ubisoft Shanghai’s post apocalyptic action adventure title first revealed in July 2008, will finally make it into gamer hands this winter via Xbox LIVE Arcade and PlayStation Network.

I Am Alive follows an everyman’s journey to find his wife and daughter lost during what is referred to as the “Event”. A year later, he finds his hometown of Haventon wrecked with toxic ash filling the streets. Society has been torn apart, leaving inhabitants to do what was necessary to survive.

“We know people have been waiting for this game to arrive, and we believe it’s going to be worth the wait,” said Adam Novickas, director of marketing at Ubisoft. “I Am Alive presents a unique take on the post apocalyptic, survival genre by creating more complex and emotional situations for the player. Xbox LIVE Arcade and PlayStation Network are the perfect platforms to leverage the mature and challenging experiences of the game.”

Ubisoft claims that players will be challenged by both their environment and their enemies. Stamina and resource management is vital when exposed to deadly atmospheres and you’re faced with the need to scale enormous buildings in search of supplies.

A “unique combat system” requires players to utilise intimidation, scaring off potential threats with an empty gun. Not everyone the player comes across will be so easy to conquer, however.
