Following similar hints earlier in the year, it seems that Ubisoft's MIA survival title, I Am Alive, is indeed alive and well.

As reported by Destructoid, a listing on the ESRB site describes fresh details of the project, which appeared to be in development hell after its initial reveal at E3 2008.

"This is an action game in which players assume the role of a man who must find his family in a post-apocalyptic world," the listing reads. "From a third-person perspective, players traverse through city ruins and use a machete to kill human enemies in melee-style combat.

"Battles are accompanied by realistic gunfire, slashing sounds, and cries of pain; characters emit brief splashes of blood when hit. Players have the ability to kill or knock unconscious wounded/vulnerable enemies via finishing moves (e.g., throat slashing, impaling, pistol-whipping)."

On a more controversial note, it also sounds as if the game may contain scenes of implied sexual abuse. The listing makes references to the hero saving women from enemies who have been keeping them prisoner. "These guys kept me as their pet, or mascot, or something," says one.

According to the ESRB, I Am Alive will be released on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
