IO Interactive has released a new trailer introducing players to the 'sexy nuns' featured in Hitman Absolution's controversial Saints trailer, and it seems that even one of the game's characters finds the PVC-donning nuns offensive, calling their outfits "inappropriate and exploitative".

"I am not a religious man, and maybe not even a very moral man in absolute terms," a document reads before trailing off the side of the screen.

"Whacking away at the credibility of nuns, and by extension any holy person, doesn't [seem the] thing the good guys ought to be doing.

"Also, what's with these fetish costumes? I find them inappropriate and exploitative. They seem to... pose of the disguise.

"I therefore do not support this initiative. I want my protest noted."

A hand-written note scribbled over the document says, "I will ask them", in response to the character's query about the costumes.

Hitman Absolution's infamous 'The Saints' trailer, dubbed by some as the Sexy Nuns trailer following its release, caused controversy for its sexualised violence.

The trailer shows a group of nuns dressed in tight PVC outfits assaulting a motel. Each one of them is attacked or killed by lead character Agent 47 in violent slow-motion scenes.

IGN's Keza MacDonald called the trailer "the most troubling piece of marketing material I think I’ve ever seen", adding that it was "obviously designed to shock".

IO later apologised for the trailer, saying that it was "sorry that we offended people – that was truly not the intention of the trailer.

"Of course we understand, this has been a very big topic for us and we've been reading as much as we could of the articles and responses. We were surprised that it turned into such a huge topic. Something similar happened with our Sniper Challenge pre-order bonus... We just wanted to make something cool, it wasn't the intention to stir up anything."

@munkee agreed didn't see the problem with it and nothing wrong with sexualised violence look at bayonneta, dead or alive and tomb raider to an extent. If you don't like sex or violence then you need to only look at Nintendo content or the beano.

I actually really liked the trailer. I thought it was stylish, sexy and brutal. I'm not sure I would have related it to Hitman. But, as an animation it was cool.
