Bungie explains announcement cancellation
Studio has "no plans to make a surprise announcement later this week".
A countdown on the official Bungie website had pointed to a big announcement being made today, but the countdown abruptly stopped with 12 hours remaining and was replaced with a letter from Bungie president Harold Ryan, explaining the announcement cancellation.
Bungie's community manager Luke Smith posted an update on the official website earlier today in order to clarify the situation. The statement reads:
"As upset and frustrated as we know folks are, we hope it's at least a small comfort that our fans know we share their disappointment. A metric ton of man hours went into getting something ready to show and it's disappointing to not be able to share it. But, the upside is that it's all stuff you'll still see further down the road.
"As much as fans wanted to believe otherwise, this is in fact, the truth and not a cruel hoax or prank. E3 is winding down and there are no plans to make a surprise announcement later this week."
He also said that the special podcast recorded for the announcement has been put away for release at a later date, but the E3: Livin' the Dream mockumentary cannot be salvaged at this time.

I think you did a really good job Wido. I have noticed a few things about MS E3 compared to Sony's. I wished they did have more for us PS3 owners but what they gave us was very pleasing. But personally i think now they were both very good and had good and bad points about it. Im just hoping we dont get many more delays. Also i would like MS to have a cheaper online service.

The 360 conference starts of with Fallout 3 also coming to the PS3, and then Resi-5 shortly afterwards also on the PS3. And then the main demo feature for the 360 was Gears 2 which looks bloody awesome, and then Fable 2 feature which also looks awesome. Moving away from there, there were speaking about there new XBL dashboard and speaking about the new added content about the dash-board and from what is new. It looks more better a clearer image and a good lay-out, Square Enix comes on at the end to show there presentation. Firstly they show 'The Last Remnant' and then a suprise annoucement which was FF 13.
Comparing to Sony's conference they were mainly speaking about there sales, which when Microsoft also announced there sales and how many XBL users also in there conference. Sony then had Resistance 2 demo, Killzone 2 and a GOW 3 trailer which to my suprising was good made me more eager to find out more about GOW 3. Also little big planet but only demonstrated on the past and the present of the PS2, PS3 and the PSP. Were not bothered about the past, its the future we are more interested in. And were was the full demo of its own of Little Big Planet? Then a PSN Ratchet game, which could of easily be just a add-on for Tools of Destruction and motostorm 2 which was on the IGN livewire segement.
Then Sony come onto the PSN, alot of us including myself wanted to hear more of HOME. But they only suppiled us with a 1min + of trailer of HOME and the current status of HOME. Comparing the two, 360 comes out on top as there have a game called 'Lips' which basically 'Singstar' and Rock Band 2 the first game to feature over 500 songs, you see were is Rock Band 2 for the PS3 to be demonstrated and etc. And overall giving there fans what they want to hear, Sony in another case was delaying yet again basically because of HOME. SOCOM is on my 'most wanted' list also, but Sony could of easily made there conference better if they put the content what us Sony fans wanted to see. But sadly Sony Conference didn't really give me what I want, yeah I like Killzone 2, Resistance 2, and then GOW but I was hopeing that Sony would deliver the goods about HOME and they sadly didnt.
Hope it helps, and that is my overall view about E3 this year.
Wot Wido>?
I dont see nothing wrong wit FF13 coming to both consoles, its a clever money making move. But i alos understand both sides of the story and why Playstation users would be angry, becuase its a very special game to that brand.
You havent listed soiid facts yourself about why MS have had a better conference.
My facst for Sony. Good exclusives and PSN exclusive titles including 2 sequels to R&C and PAIN.
Movie and TV content availible to download with optional definition.
Exclusive online multiplayer gam MAG which can host upto 256 players at one time which will be simlair to socom and battlefield.
And they stated a very hard fact about the prvious history about the PS2. Basically how long its lasted and whats developed from it and how its still a high selling product. Which reasurres us owners that we can really really look towards the future and what beholds us.
Your turn....Not being cocky but i wuld like to hear other views on ms at e3
Wido
Its a move for Square Enix, and it is a good move to come to the xbox. As there is over 12 million XBL users.... So in marketing for FF 13 its a very clever move besides on having it on the PS3. Get your facts right before you open your mouth, thats the problem with some people these days.
About Halo well they don't really need to make another, they have Halo Wars on the way so there its driving force still. Still though I wouldn't mind another FPS Halo game, but they should carry on making a good storyline for Halo on a RTS genre. Which they have done, but now its got one final test can it compete against End War? C&C Red Alert 3.
pfft!
Unless there hosting a 256 player online combat arena? nah didnt think so....keep wishing fanboy.

The Bungie 'reveal' would have been to steal the headlines away from anything Ninty+Sony had come up with. Sadly, neither rival announced anything interesting or new, leaving Microsoft free to keep this 'ace' up their sleeve for another time.
Tis a great shame for Bungie. They clearly worked hard building up the hype for this; with obscure pictures, hints and easter eggs scattered all over the place. It's going to be difficult for them to build up this kind of excitement again.
