You won't be banned from LIVE for playing Halo 3 early

Following a memorable day which saw UK retailer Argos selling Halo 3 to consumers a week before release, and Microsoft seemingly willing to ban gamers from Xbox LIVE for playing the game, Microsoft has issued an official statement which should put the debacle to bed.

"We can confirm that Microsoft is not taking any action (such as banning Xbox Live accounts) against gamers who are playing Halo 3 before the official street date. Any rumours or speculation to the contrary are false," reads the statement issued by Microsoft this evening.

Halo 3 is scheduled for release in North America on September 25, across Europe on September 26 and in Japan on September 27.

Thousands of people have all ready played the demo and we have seen through trailers and short clips just about all the special features so why are microsoft making all this fuss when its officaly out in five days. its not the peoples falt or argos its microsoft because its there product and there responsabilty.

The official statement was e-mailed to us directly from Microsoft, so there is no press release.

Exactly, how about a link to the source, or at the very least a press release? I can't find this anywhere.

The source is Microsoft themselves. We've played our copy with no negative effects.

If they had banned, it would be against the terms of service for xbox live... nothing in there about playing games before their "official" release
