Halo 3 sets new pre-order record

Pre-orders for Halo 3 have exceeded the one million milestone.

Microsoft has announced Halo 3 is establishing new precedents for an entertainment launch, with pre-orders worldwide having already exceeded one million units.

Preorders have been racking up huge numbers around the world with three versions of the game available: Standard Edition, Limited Edition and Legendary Edition. Microsoft notes that demand for the Legendary Edition has been so strong that it is expected to be sold out by the time the game hits stores.

Tricia Brennan, Commercial Director for GAME UK and Eire said "What we've experienced is nothing short of phenomenal - Halo 3 has eclipsed many previous records and will prove to be one of the must have items of 2007."

Brennan continued: "The excitement for the game is incredible, and from our pre-orders online and the buzz we're hearing in our stores, we know this release is going to be the entertainment event of the year. We're thrilled to be able to bring it to our customers."

Halo 3 is scheduled for release across North America on September 25 and across Europe on September 26.
