Hugely popular Xbox 360 game not suffering same fate as Halo 2.

While pretty obvious to us, Bungie has confirmed that the Halo 3 multiplayer servers will remain active once this autumn's Halo: Reach hits stores. The Xbox 360 FPS won't be going offline, as has recently happened with online Xbox juggernaut Halo 2.

"I don't think we would pull the plug," said Bungie community director Brian Jarrard.

"Will we hope that people will migrate to Reach because it represents all of the good things from Halo 3 but better and more so? Sure, but I guarantee that there are hardcore gamers, like the pros who make their livelihoods off of playing Halo 3, who might take awhile to move over.

"I can't imagine a world where Halo Reach and Halo 3 don't coexist."

Yeh, there's no way Halo 3 is going to be abandoned any time soon. It took Halo 2 six years. At the very least Halo 3 will be online until 2016. Wow. That's pretty far away...
