More than 500 gamerscore points available for finishing the single-player campaign.
Over on Xbox.com Microsoft has listed the Achievements that will be found in Halo 3. In total there are 49 Achievements, which will earn players a maximum of 1000 gamerscore points.
More than half the 1000 points can be earned by finishing the single-player campaign - albeit on Legendary difficulty - although there's still around 400 points on offer for finishing the game on Normal.
The rest of the points are dished out either through online play or by completing certain tasks in the single-player game.

Halo 3 is scheduled for release across Europe on September 26.
