343 and Saber Interactive's Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary for Xbox 360 will feature insight into Halo 4, Dan Ayoub, executive producer at 343 Industries has revealed.

"Terminals debuted in Halo 3, it was text, it was a little difficult to find," explained Ayoub at a Microsoft E3 event overnight. "So we're going to make the Terminals more accessible, they will be easier for people to find and we're going to use them to tell a story of the Halo ring, and if you find them all you may find that we've laid down some foundation for the other Halo game we talked about today."

It's pretty clear he's talking about Halo 4.

"We wanted to get away from text for Terminals. So we wanted to make it more visual, to get away from the text-based stuff," he added before showing an example of how audio and visuals will enhance the Terminals.

"We think it's going to be a great way to tell a story."

343 Industries development director Frankie O'Connor added via Halo Waypoint: "There will be Terminals – but on a scale of ambition you might not expect. These Terminals will add a really fascinating glimpse into the deeper heart of the Halo universe and make important connections between our past games, present novels and future titles."

Ayoub also explained how it will be possible for players to switch back and forth between the updated visuals and how the game looked ten years ago.

"Priority one for us was to make sure the game played exactly how it did ten years ago. The way we do this is we're actually running two engines simultaneously. You've got the original Halo code running right now, and that's how we ensure it controls the same, it reacts the same, the gameplay is the same," he explained. "But we've also layered our graphics engine on top of it and that allows us to get the graphical fidelity we're showing you right now.

"We also get some other bonuses out of that," he added.

At any point during the campaign you can hit 'back' to activate Classic mode, turning off all the new graphical improvements to see the game how it was ten years ago.

Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary will be released at a lower than usual price point on November 15.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE leave in the exploring we could do in Halo 2 if there ever is a remake. I loved getting out of maps and finding secrets. Backwash in MP was awesome. I hate how in Reach you take one foot out of line and its "RETURN TO THE BATTLEFIELD!"

actually halo wouldnt has where it is today, if not for CE so the first game meant everything, I loved Halo since first playing in 2001, and have faithfully followed the story through out the years, this is a great tribute to the games creaters and Halo fans across the globe. I've already pre-ordered it and cant wait to see the new graphics layout. As for Halo 4, all I say is the news of it has made my year :) , time does move fast enough. A whole new trilogy, making the story of John 117 a saga, is truly epic beyond belief, im still trying to figure out what that rift was in the trailer.

That's all fine and dandy, but Halo CE meant nothing. They better not change a thing about Halo 2, except for 1 thing-they must finish the skulls and open a gate, that is all. The skulls, when activated in a certain order should activate a gate revealing hidden secrets.
When I B X R, it better instant kill. When I B X R R X Y Y, I better be able to continue my double shot. They most likely will modify the textures as to prevent superbouncing, because that was their "official excuse". "The phenomenon known as superbouncing was caused by glitches with the touching of two textures." Right, I'm going to crouch and walk in a corner, jump on a texture, and suddenly land perfectly in a spot that gives me an advantage over everyone else. Such a convenient"error" to have; every superbounce "accident" just happens to give you an edge over your opponent.
