Uruguayan director, Fede Alvarez, who has recently seen his stock gain value after completing work on the Evil Dead remake, has expressed his desire to create a film based on Valve's Half-Life franchise.

"I really want to make a Half-Life movie at some point," Alvarez told Yahoo. "But I'd heard it was impossible because Spielberg wanted to make it."

He added: "That's definitely one that I've always dreamed of making into a movie though."

JJ Abrams has previously talked about working with Half-Life, but it's not clear if such a project would ever get made.

I still think there will be a really good game to film translation one day, but I'm not sure it'll be Half Life. The game has a great story and is already cinematic so it'll either be a carbon copy which fans will moan at for a lack of innovation or a new twist on the story which fans will moan at for being unfaithful.

I wouldn't mind a Half Life film but I would rather see it done by a good up and coming indie director, or has at least proven themselves already at a good level.

Duncan Jones and Rian Johnson come to my mind staright away for it though. But I think Gareth Edwards would fit right into the franchise after watching Monsters a couple of years ago.

He needs to back off and mind his own business. Leave Half Life to Valve. We play it, not watch it.
