Activision disbands Guitar Hero business
News
True Crime: Hong Kong also canned.
Activision has announced it has shut down its Guitar Hero business and discontinued the development of the Guitar Hero title planned for release later this year.
"Due to continued declines in the music genre, the company will disband Activision Publishing's Guitar Hero business unit and discontinue development on its Guitar Hero game for 2011," the publisher stated in a release relating to its calendar year 2010 financial results.
Development of open-world action title True Crime: Hong Kong has also been stopped.
Activision added: "These decisions are based on the desire to focus on the greatest opportunities that the company currently has to create the world's best interactive entertainment experiences."

Gawd Dammit! The games are fun, and have always been a blast to play! There's plenty of damn fine music they haven't touched which would be a blast to play.
Oh, I'm pissed off now. I enjoyed unlocking new setlists, stages and finding hidden characters, those that seem to be glad of this move don't seem to appreciate that there are some people who would rate the music genre amongst their favourite and will miss the continuing of the franchise. Very selfish attitude, but expected from most gamers, sadly.
At least we got Money For Nothing before the end...
