What sets Rockstar's titles like GTA 5 apart from other video games is an attention to detail simply not seen elsewhere, Rockstar North president Leslie Benzies has claimed.

"That last five to ten per cent of work on the game makes a huge difference," Benzies told Develop magazine. "This level of perfection is not seen or understood in the majority of the industry.

Benzies added: "We can all make a car drive down a street in a game, but can you do it in style? Everyone's got characters that are walking around, but can they walk?"

GTA 5 is out now for Xbox 360 and PS3.

VideoGamer.com Analysis

It's certainly hard to imagine a game like GTA 5 coming from any developer but Rockstar, where the small details really do matter.

Well I actually agree with this but GTA is not the only game that is giving attention to every little detail!

Next time I drive a car through a mailbox I'm going to stop, get out, and see if I can read any addresses in the explosion of letters I just caused. Then maybe in GTA 6 I'll be able to deliver a few of them personally and open up questlines that way. Barrel-smashing evolved.

And... Daughter Number One has taken over the 360, so I asked her to do it, so she crashed into a mailbox for me and we watched in disappointment as the letters flew out and then 'despawned'. Ah well, roll on GTA VI.
