Blockbuster has announced a new trade-in promotion offering players the chance to grab Grand Theft Auto 5 for free when they trade in two selected games.

Trade in any two of the following titles and you'll get GTA 5 for absolutely nothing when the game launches next week:

  • Call of Duty Black Ops 2
  • Deadpool
  • Diablo 3
  • Disney Infinity Starter Pack
  • Injustice Gods Among Us
  • Killer is Dead
  • Lost Planet 3
  • Rayman Legends
  • Rugby Challenge 2
  • Saints Row IV
  • Splinter Cell Blacklist
  • Walking Dead The Survivors (Survival Instinct?)

If you haven't got anything to trade, Blockbuster tells that it will be selling the game for £44.99, or for £39.85 when you pre-order online and select the Click and Collect delivery option.

"The anticipation for GTA 5 has been building for months and we have seen this reflected in the pre-orders that we've taken," said James Morton, head of games at Blockbuster. "We're delighted to be offering such a great deal for all our customers and anticipate a great response to this in the coming days."

GTA 5 releases next Tuesday, September 17 on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

So trade in 2 quite new games for a new game? That's stupid. Why would you think trading 2 games worth £30-40 each for a game worth £42 is a great idea?? ¬_¬

Blockbuster trade in prices are terrible, as a rule, but their online second hand games and Bluray deals are pretty good.

Well you can have this lovely deal if you can hunt down a blockbuster! The one that was 5 min walk from my house is in the process of shutting down. Also I don't feel it is necessary to give them perfectly good games just so they can either chuck them or sale them for quick money

I guess these kinds of deals are ok, for Blockbuster and Gamespot et al it means they can make £60 profit by selling your two old games and giving you GTA V which they bought for £30 rather than just £15 profit by selling you a copy of GTA V directly.

For hoarders though it's a pretty dire offering, you're losing two games that you already paid £60 for and end up with just one and then have to shell out another £30 next time a 2 for 1 offer comes up, ad infinitum but always resulting in just one game on your shelf.
