While it has been long known that the downloadable, episodic content for GTA IV is to be exclusive to the Xbox 360, it wasn't until a recent blunder by a US Rockstar spokesperson that it was confirmed there would be no consolation for PS3 owners hoping for an exclusive of their own.

Speaking to Games Radar, Hosi Simon claimed: "They're identical games, We're not hardware makers, and we're not like a pawn between these companies, we try not to be as much as we can. We make great games for people to enjoy on whichever system they want."

However, after a good start he concluded: "But I guess if you want the complete experience with the episodes, then yeah, you should buy the 360, I suppose."

Gloating Xbox fans and disappointed PS3 owners will likely feel equally passionate about this news.

Grand Theft Auto IV is scheduled for release across Europe on October 19 for PS3 and Xbox 360.

I love all these names... 'Ps3 suck', 's**toffsony'....

Just play your games with that tennis elbow enducing control pad and send it off to get fixed again.... Stop going out of your way to hate. It's like Tottenham fans always going on about Arsenal. It's like a bad itch, because you all know that the PS3 will become so much better as developers learn how to utilise the power.

Bottom line is, who really cares about downloadable content? I couldn't care either way. It may be a nice bonus but I won't miss it. It will probably help if I don't have it.... Maybe that time saved not playing it will help maintain my relationship with the misses!

What's that i see? Oh, it's the red ring of death, you better go send that 360 off. Again.

Always amusing to observe the insecurity of Microsoft fanboys in action. They need exclusives like this(Which MS have paid millions for, a 'victory' for the biggest wallet once again), however slight and meaningless they will inevitably become(As 'special editions' of the game on both platforms will add additional/new content such as 'episodic' content) in order to justify to themselves being foolish enough to buy a console with a 30-50 percent failure rate just to play PC games at double the price and Halo 2.5(Not even running in high definition, pathetic).

Microsoft fanboys are loudest because they have more issues to mask, both with their precious X-ploding Xbox and their own lives.

If people who were previously going to buy a PS3, were to now go and buy a 360, they could buy an Elite, GTAIV special edition, a few more games (Halo 3), and all the episodic content, and still have £40 to spend on booze and hookers. Wats that sound I hear, oh, its master chief, pissing on a PS3!

Microsoft are not bribing anyone. There are more XBOX 360 consoles in use than there are PS3.So Rockster have noticed this and as they are a business and businesses are ment to make MONEY. They will sell more copys and make more MONEY selling gta on the XBOX 306 console. The XBOX 360 marketplace is more popular than the PS3 store and has more users so rockstar can make even more money.

This is really for us PS3 owners. In a way I wish Sony would secure this for us too, but then again, I don't want Sony to pay (bribe) Rockstar for exclusive content.

Seeing as how the PS2 was the home of the GTA series and all, and how much Rockstar benefited for that, it kinda sucks how they're kicking us PS users with this.

Oh well. There are other games, I suppose.

I'm a 360 owner but I'm more worried about how much they're going to charge for the episodic content than the content itself. If it's priced anything like most extras on Live Marketplace then I probably won't bother with it.

... whether a few downloadable content will sway significant sales toward Microsoft, especially to justify the $$$ they undoubtedly paid off Rockstar to do it, but it's quite cool for existing 360 owners I suppose.
