No need to wait for the game to arrive in Europe later this year.

With Sony jumping in at the last minute to secure a timed exclusive release of Ghostbusters in Europe, Xbox 360 gamers (and other non-Sony platforms) are being forced to wait until later this year when Atari will publish the game on the remaining systems. At least that is unless you import the Xbox 360 game from the US.

Destructoid has had it confirmed by Atari that the North American release of Ghostbusters for Xbox 360 is not region locked and will therefore work in PAL Xbox 360 consoles.

The game's out next week in the US and should be available from all importers.

Be aware that imports are likely to be subjected to import duty and VAT. If you're struggling to find a store, we've used Videogamesplus in the past.

360 version is supposed to have a slight graphical edge over PS3 (burns and stuff showing up more). But other than that they both look and play pretty much the same.

I've read a review for it and it got a pretty solid 8/10. Only knocked down slightly by a few little flaws, but apparently plays nicely.
I'm looking forward to having a bash on it.

Most people don't have both systems. So the option is there to import to the 360 if they haven't got a PS3. Just ruins the exclusivity of the game to be honest, when people can just import it and play it before the offical UK release date.

Should of kept it multiplatform from word go. Still it does look good but I just get this feeling that it will be a short game. I may have to eat my own words after that but hey! Thats my opinion.

Essentially if you have both systems and want ghostbusters I would imagine most would choose to get it on ps3 rather then the trouble of importing no?

I don't think they paid any more than normal, they were doing Atari a favour. If they really wanted the timed exclusive then they'd have done this globally.

I'm sure Sony are getting enough money from the 360 sales anyway considering that they get a share of the profits to the licence.

You are right about it only being a small number of people who will import - but it was also this small number of people who wanted to play the game straight away that Sony were hoping would buy a PS3 in order to play it. So it still stands that the whole timed exclusive is still a waste of money as it will not achieve what they were hoping to achieve.

Not really, as the people who will import are a very small number of the overall audience. Added to this are the language issues for the rest of Europe.

Plus it wasn't really designed as an exclusive, it's just that Sony took on the publishing when there was no-one else to do it because they already own the Ghostbusters rights.
