Better than expected Ghost Recon Future Soldier sales help Ubisoft to beat guidance
First quarter sales reported at €131 million, up 27.2% compared to the same quarter in 2011.
Ubisoft has reported Q1 sales (ended June 30, 2012) for 2012-13 of €131 million, up 27.2 per cent compared with the €103 million posted in Q1 2011.
Sales were even higher than guidance of €115 million given when Ubisoft issued its full year results for 2011-12.
Some of this can be attributed to "higher than expected sales of Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Future Solider," said Ubisoft. The well-received action sequel was the best-selling console game in the US for May and June.
Ubisoft reported continued strong momentum for the online segment, largely thanks to free-to-play titles and Trials Evolution.
Chief executive officer Yves Guillemot commented: "Our medium-term goal is to capitalise on both the arrival of the new generation of consoles and the ramp-up of the Free-to-Play segment, which represent two major opportunities for us to step up growth and enhance our profitability."
