Gears of War 3 News

For:Xbox 360 Release Date: 20 September 2011

The fate of Carmine is decided.

Back in July Epic Games and Microsoft gave fans the chance to decide the fate of a character in Gears of War 3.

By purchasing avatar gear on Xbox LIVE Marketplace, fans around the globe could decide the destiny of the newest Carmine brother set to appear in Gears of War 3, with all the proceeds going to the Child's Play Charity.

The fate of Carmine has now been set, but best of all more than $150,000 has been raised for the charity.

I can tell you that part of the rehabilitation of stroke victims/patients includes at the moment is playing wii games. I'm not sure if there any plans to use move or kinect as their precision and use of the whole body will probably aid the development more.

But, sometimes curing a disease will require staying in hospital. Sometimes part of the curing process will be the therapy a person receives after an operation. With long periods of nothing to do between treatments I would have thought a video game or two to play would be an excellent way of passing the time.

I disagree, Steg. The funding for research is already there, and Childs Play provides equipment to help children get through stressful times NOW, not in x numbers of years in the future when there may possibly potentially be an over-priced cure.

Any form of relief or pleasure for sufferers, as they are going through such difficult times, is a good thing. And will have instant results.

I would have thought putting the money into curing the diseases would make more sense than giving them video games to make them shut up.

This is the VERY worthwhile charity that provides a means of entertainment and enjoyment to children suffering painful and nasty diseases, making frightening wards a touch less scary during periods of what must be horrible treatments.

Surely any means that makes such experiences less scary is a worthwhile cause.

I for one applaud Microsoft for this action. I did think it unusual for them to charge for the event idea (Avatar shirts) but had a feeling they would probably end up doing something like this.

Is this the very useful charity of giving dying kids call of duty and stuff?
