Epic Games has announced that Gears of War 2 will join the Xbox LIVE Games on Demand store on October 12, giving gamers the option to download and play the highly rated sequel without leaving their home and without using a disc.

There's no word on pricing just yet, but given the first in the series is currently priced £19.99, expect something around that for the sequel.

These older games need a new pricing structure. Gears 2 is freely available for £10-£15 granted OD allows you to get the game now and saves you the cost of transport to a shop. But most people will plan a purchase and not need these older games right now. They are quite happy to purchase online and get the game delivered in a timely manner.

xboxlive is right, i can get any game cheaper than the digital download version. Apart from the L4D series as its a bargain on Steam at the moment. But come on, £19.99 for download is pretty steep when you consider getting 2 games for the same price as physical media.
