Analyst expects Gears of War 2 to outsell Resistance 2 and LittleBigPlanet this Christmas.
People could choose the 360 over the PS3 this Christmas because of the perceived high price of Sony's console, an analyst has warned.
EDAAR analyst Jesse Divnich, as reported by Gamesindustry.biz, urged Sony to drop the price of the PS3 before Christmas kicks in.
AdvertisementHe said: "We still urge Sony to consider a possible hardware price cut this holiday season. We should note that if Microsoft's first-party titles perform significantly better in quality and popularity than Sony's this holiday season, we could begin to see a considerable amount of potential PS3 owners, who may be waiting for a PS3 price cut, to choose the Xbox 360 over the PS3."
"The $399 price point is simply too steep to entice the casual and mainstream markets, regardless of how great Resistance 2 and LittleBigPlanet may be. Currently, we expect Gears of War 2 to be the single best selling SKU this holiday season."
Following a recent price cut, the Xbox 360 Arcade now retails in the UK at £129.99.

Sadly, I think it's about right. People who now want to get into the latest consoles will have far less money to spend at the moment and this may push them into buying the cheapest.

Shame really cos each console has good games but i feel PS3 has a good lineup and kids will love it at xmas, but like now money is the main factor.
People just cannot afford much things nowadays. Or i would say; If you can afford a PS3 for xmas, get one!! If you cant, then get a 360 as either way you will not be dissapointed.

Its simple there is no significant difference between PS3 and 360 except Blue Ray a format that most users are unintrested in anyway. You then have to ask are you going to buy a console that costs over the odds or get the one that is set at a realistic achievable price?
Its the 360s 3rd Christmas and the component cost must be low by now. So MS has the scope to make the change. Blue Ray is stil a new technology and the lasers are still in the development phase therefore you won't see a reduction in price without a massive defisit to Sony.
Therefore you can only see one winner this Christmas and it isn't Sony. Probably isn't microsoft either lol but out of those two it will be Microsoft. Nintendo Will be the winner.

Yeah well i own both but i always recommend 360 to people who want the best games and graphics but say that, if they have any interest in blu-ray, to buy a ps3 instead because in my opinion despite it lagging on the games side its not now that far behind(the ps3 that is) unless u count graphics in n e way

pretty much basic logic. two currently very similar consoles. one very expensive and the other one very cheap. its pretty much obvious that most people will pick the cheaper option. i bought a ps3 and its ace but it is tempting to get a 360 as well because they're so cheap.

What about the fact that PS3 had FREE online gameplay, built in wireless modem, and a brand name thats been around for years? I currently own a 360 and am very happy with it, but the online kills me! If 360 REALLY wants to seal the deal then they'd best take a note from sony and make their online gameplay free.

Sony won't do a price cut anyway, but still people will buy it. I also own a 360 because various of reasons 1) Halo to continue with the saga and then Forza which is the best racing game that I have played since Mario Kart.
Nintendo shall win it this year as the Wii is still hot to get now, from sounds of things and let me guess the Wiis shall continue selling over the street prices on ebay when christmas arrives.

I meen i thought this was a game site where the community gathers and enjoys the gaming life.
All 3 are jst consoles nothing more nothing less, there are no winners or loosers. I just completed Halo 2 and its fantastic, i havent even touched Halo3 yet. Ive also just played LBP Beta and its genius and very smart. So what the hell are you girlies arguing over the consoles for?? Please just grow up for christ sake. If your going to waste your free time niggling every chance you get, the you need a life.
