At Comic-Con last week Epic Games' Cliff Bleszinski and Rod Fergusson showed off some new Gears of War clothing items heading to the Xbox LIVE Avatar store later this year.

With the new items you'll be able to turn your super trendy little character into a COG soldier or your favourite alien Locust, a look that's sure to be a big hit.

While the Epic Games duo didn't put a price on the items, Kotaku, who saw the presentation, believes you should expect to have to part with some MS Points for these dress-up items.

They should create game related avatar items that you get with the game.

We were discussing about unlocking characters on Tekken and SF - maybe this is the solution to the unlockables. Complete Arcade mode with Cun-Li to get a blue Chun-Li dress for your avatar! - It gives people who need it a purpose to extend their play and rewards you with something game related to show off on your avatar.

Avatar clothing, HOME furniture, in-game alternate outfits : None of this should be free. What exactly have any of us done to deserve it? Since none of it is essential, and since none of it matters in any way other than measuring e-peen, then publishers can pump out as much as they like for whatever price they like. It really doesn't matter, because you will not buy it anyway.

As rewards for in-game achievments? This is awesome. I have a Chris Redfield statuette in my HOME apartment, because of something I did in Resident Evil 5. I have 2 gamerpics I can use from 'Splosion Man, because of completing level 4 in single-player and multiplayer.

As a bonus for pre-ordering? As someone who never pre-orders, I am still in favour of this idea. The Gold Lancer means nothing, it does identical damage to the standard one, but it gives those who are happy to pre-order a little reward for their show of commitment. None of us should have any problem with this. It may even convert some of us to pre-orderers.

I'm with you I also believe this should be free. But as it's 3rd party developers the only way they can justify the production of said items is to ask for a fee. However in my eyes these items are a source of advertising!

I complain about any cost associated with any item of clothing for game characters or avatars. I simply will not spend any money dressing up my avatar, character, or Home-ie.

I'm with you Wido. However nobody complains about buying clothes for your home character. While it's not great to charge for these items as a die hard fan I don't mind paying for my avatar to wear the cog outfit. It's not to make your avatar look like one in the game but to make your avatar wear the cog uniform.

This is going to appeal to the hardcore fans of Gears of War. If I had XBL for my 360 I would get them just for fun.
