Turn your phone or tablet into a GPS for Forza, or queue up the next song in Dance Central 3.
Xbox SmartGlass will launch on October 26, bringing extra functionality to a range of Xbox 360 games including Forza: Horizon, Dance Central 3 and Halo 4.
SmartGlass will include key foundational experiences for interacting with your Xbox 360, such as dashboard and app navigation and Internet Explorer control, like text input, scrolling and pinch and zoom.
Supported games include:
- Dance Central 3
- Forza Horizon
- Halo Waypoint
- Home Run Stars
- Kinect Sesame Street TV
"Get more from your game when you can use a second screen. Turn you phone or tablet into a virtual GPS in Forza: Horizon. Don’t stop the dance party in Dance Central 3 by going back to the menu to choose your next song. Instead, queue it up on your tablet or smartphone. In HomeRun Stars, use SmartGlass on your favourite device to throw a surprise pitch to your friend up at bat in front of Kinect. See detailed stats on how you are progressing in Halo 4, or check up on friends. All of these features and much more will be available when your favourite game extends to multiple screens," explains Microsoft.
In addition, Microsoft has confirmed that the new Dashboard will roll out to all other Xbox 360s today.
Update: Microsoft has told VideoGamer.com that Xbox SmartGlass will launch first on Windows 8 tablets and PCs, for Windows Phone 8 when it launches this autumn, and soon on iOS and Android devices.
