Square Enix: FFXIII could be the last of its kind
Team could move on to create 'some next generation forms of play'.
Square Enix president and CEO Yoichi Wada has revealed that Final Fantasy XIII may be the last traditional title that the current Final Fantasy XIII team creates, suggesting development could instead turn towards creating something completely new.
"I believe Final Fantasy XIII is going be something special, and that it's going to be well received by the audience. But whether we are going to continue to internally create this type of game remains to be seen, because I actually feel that the team that was involved with Final Fantasy XIII should next move on to create and generate some 'next generation' forms of play," Wada told Edge.
He added: "Internally and externally I feel there’s an expectation of Square Enix to offer something new, and I really think that the Final Fantasy team could create something completely different, but at the moment they're strictly catering to the particular audience they have now."
Final Fantasy XIII is scheduled for release in Europe on March 9 for PS3 and Xbox 360.

Think of it as a cross between Runescape and Leona Lewis if that helps.
Personally I thought Square Enix did a great job with The Last Remnant and as long as they keep churning out similar games I'll be happy. Having said that I'd be equally happy to keep seeing Cid pop up every 3 or 4 years for the next 20 years and was really looking forward to seeing what they'd do with Final Fantasy XXX.

For me, on the other hand, this would be my first ever experience with Final Fantasy.
I just haven;t ever gotten to grips with it.
I've never played, never seen it...
I don;t even know what it's about or what type of game it is, or they are, or whatever...
