FF XIII release date announcement in 'a few weeks'

Only expected to reveal the Japanese launch date.

Square Enix president Yoichi Wada has announced that the video games firm will announce the release date for the highly anticipated Final Fantasy XIII “in a few weeks”.

The game has previously been confirmed as being on course for a 2009 release in Japan (PS3 only), while 2010 is the earliest the game can be expected in the West.

A few weeks would put us beyond European trade show gamescom, but several weeks ahead of the 2009 Tokyo Games Show. However, TGS 2009 would seem like the perfect platform to announce the Japanese release date for the game.

If Square does what they usually do then it will be 6 months after the Japanese release. The 360 port has already been started. A few weeks could mean any anything. This game is dying due to its own hype.

So they've announced a estimated release date for annoucement of an estimated release date for something that doesn't really effect people outside of Japan.

So I guess people waiting for this game get to wait for "a few weeks" to know how much longer they have to wait for a game they've been waiting for for "a few" years to know when people in Japan get to play a game.

What? The extra year (couple of months) is going to give Sony (Square Enix) more sales? That doesn't make any sense. They use that time to translate the game into different languages and do the English dub, with FFXIII they also have to port it over to the 360.

Yea this game will be released a year after to the rest of the world except afganistan. So the sooner the better. Their stratagy is a bit too wierd for me but it means a rise in sales for sony so its all good. They will an extra year to make more sales, and it being a Final Fantasy...well its going to sell and i bet you all it will be released with the PS3 Slim maybe as a package.
