FIFA 14 has knocked Grand Theft Auto 5 off the top of the charts just one week after the debut of Rockstar's open world epic.

GTA 5 sales fell by 83 per cent week-on-week, but continues to sell well. According to Chart Track, GTA 5's second week sales are the "equivalent to being the 18th biggest week if ranked against week 1 sales of any other games ever released".

Despite hitting the top spot, though, FIFA 14 failed to match the opening week sales of last year's FIFA 13, with sales down 24 per cent year-on-year. The fall in sales is likely due to GTA's continued popularity and the imminent arrival of FIFA 14 on next-gen consoles.

Elsewhere, Minecraft climbs three places to No.3, PES 2014 drops to No.4 and The Last of Us falls to No.5.

This week's biggest new entry is Medal of Honor: Warfighter, re-entering the chart at no.29 due to some aggressive price promotion.

VideoGamer.com Analysis

With the launch of GTA Online, GTA 5 could storm back to the top of the charts next week as FIFA's opening sales tail off. F1 2013 and NBA 2K14 are the only major titles to release this Friday, and while F1 2013 could perform well, it's unlikely to give GTA or FIFA a run for their money.
