FIFA 13 will not feature any kind of player performance momentum, producer David Rutter has told

Quizzed about how dynamic Pro Player Intelligence and the new first touch systems are in FIFA 13, in particular if form is affected by performance over a match, Rutter said: "Ultimately, there's no momentum, that's how our community and fans talk about it within the game.

"So if your team's doing badly, they don't start to play badly, or if your team's playing well, they don't start to play better. That concept doesn't exist in the game, ultimately because we want it to be down to your skill and abilities, and down to the attributes of the players on the pitch, rather than 'oh, bad luck'.

"The fact that, fans who believe that's in there get so passionately against it is like 'yeah that's why we wouldn't put it in, because it would be a dumb idea'."

Dumb idea? To make beginners think they are actually better than they are? Keeps them playing doesn´t it? Around for longer. FIFA is not like COD. It´s one of the most frustrating games out there to lose playing online. It gets to you and if a streak like that continues for too long what happens?

Ok lets go on...

As far as I know this game has bin running on the same engine since 2007. Obviously updated from year to year but in theory still the same. This game engine and the thinking behind it is explained by EA´s Sebastian Enrique in the link below.

No Momentum? The whole game engine is designed around momentum. When did this change? Has it or are the EA boys working overtime on a fix before FIFA13.

I´ve played thousands on top of thousands of FIFA/fut games from day one. Momentum exists and has a huge role when playing online. Almost every single experienced FIFA player agrees with me on this. You only have to have eyes to see it´s there.

"Besides having a current emotional value and a scale, each team has minimum and maximum emotional values that it can reach depending on the current score. As an example, if you are a well known top team playing a second division team, beating them 1-0, it doesn’t matter how well you are playing, you cannot be in Glory, because a victory is expected, at most you would be in Achievement"

In other words. Handicap.
