Microsoft has announced it has secured a twelve-month Xbox 360 exclusive period for both FIFA 07 and Pro Evolution Soccer 6. This applies to next-gen consoles only, though, so both titles will be available on current-gen platforms.
This is pretty massive news for Microsoft, and is essentially forcing gamers who want to play a next-gen football title during the course of the next year to buy an Xbox 360. FIFA 07 was officially announced for the Xbox 360 today, and Pro Evolution Soccer 6 is at the Games Convention where it's being shown off running on the Xbox 360 for the fist time. Both titles are expected to arrive later this year.

This must really be bad if you are a Playstation 3 fan who likes Soccer, since there will be ABSOLUTELY NO Soccer game for over a year!!!

Microsoft announced yesterday that only Xbox 360 will have next generation PES until next year. The current generation formats are unaffected for the October release.
The same is true for FIFA 07.
UPDATE: There isn't an exclusivity deal between any of the companies, it's just Microsoft's marketing spin on the situation as was happening anyway.
UPDATE 2 by Kezz: According to Konami Germany, there's no deal with Microsoft at all. Obviously there were no plans for a PS3 version of PES 6 anyway, as the PS3 is slated to launch in winter while PES traditionally comes out in autumn. So PES 7 was always meant to be the first PES making an appearance on Sony's PS3, irrespective of what Microsoft is telling us here. Nice try, though.

What!!!? I hear you cry what on earth can be so bad about pes on a next-gen console. I can answer that in a few simple lines of text and real pes players will know how bad this news is:
There are only a total of 8 stadiums compared to 30+ in pes5
There are no complete editing options only player stats can be modified, this means no scalability; no transfers, no shirt names, no kits and boots, no create
There are no options to save any replays unlike in pes5
Is it just me or is this new incarnation of pes one step forward in terms of graphical specification and two whole steps back in terms of player control[?]
Konami, I am hugely disappointed that you have dissuaded me both from purchasing a 360 and continuing to enjoy this great football game series. A half finished product in my view and not one worth the asking price.
Yours disgruntled,
